A VISITING PAN AMERICAN HEALTH ORGANISATION (PAHO) DELEGATION HANDED OVER A PAIR OF PCR (POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION) MACHINES to Joseph Nathaniel. France General Hospital.

“These PCR machines are a valuable addition to the hospital’s laboratory, as they will significantly improve the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities for various infectious diseases, including COVID-19,” Director of Health Institutions, Dr. Jenson Morton noted.
Acting Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Sharon Archibald, witnessed the handing over of the machines along with Dr. Jenson Morton, Director of Health Institutions, and visiting PAHO representative Dr. Amilia Del Riego and her team.

The PAHO delegation also toured the JNF General Hospital and visited the Dr. Arthur Lake Mental Health Day Treatment Centre. After their tour, they expressed satisfaction and approval of the quality of care provided to patients noting that the facility should serve as a model for the rest of the region.
PAHO Representative for Barbados and the OECS, Dr. Amilia Del Riego, commended the staff for what she described as their dedication to improving mental health outcomes in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The PAHO representative also pledged continued support for the country’s mental health initiatives.
