InterCaribbean Airways in historic flight to St Kitts

INTERCARIBBEAN AIRWAYS, WINGED ITS WAY TO ST. KITTS AND NEVIS SUNDAY IN A HISTORIC INAUGURAL FLIGHT broadening its service and influence in the Caribbean.
“It is truly an exciting day for regional tourism, and, as Minister of Tourism, the end goal of our airlift strategy has always been growth,” Marsha Henderson said at an inaugural flight welcome ceremony at the Kayan Jet Lounge. 
“As we re-energize intra-regional travel, I am elated at the continued advancements that our destination continues to realise,” minister Henderson said.
She pointed out that events such as the popular Caribbean Premier League (CPL)cricket tourney, and the St Kitts Music Festival are some of the major activities that will be boosted through the establishment of the new airline service to the CARICOM Federation independent twin island.

“InterCaribbean’s integration into our airlift network grants the region easy accessibility to immerse and indulge in the hidden gems of St. Kitts and Nevis. Notably, our events such as the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the St. Kitts Music Festival, Nevis’ Culturama, and our St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival have gained momentum and our people are excited to travel once again,” Henderson noted.
The minister said interconnectivity through airlifts has always been vital to sustaining strong relationships with the wider Caribbean. Henderson congratulated both InterCaribbean Airways and the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis for cementing a relationship that she stressed will benefit not just the Federation but intra-regional travel.
 In attendance at the inaugural flight welcome event were the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew; CEO of InterCaribbean Airways, Mr. Trevor Sadler, and its Chairman, Mr. Lyndon Gardiner; Captain Arian Blanchette; CEO of the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) Adeola Moore; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Tivanna Wharton; CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Ellison ‘Tommy’ Thompson; Cabinet Ministers; senior government officials and other officials; and President of the St. Kitts Taxi Association, Sylvester Hodge.

Meanwhile, InterCaribbean ChairmanGardiner lauded the Basseterre Labour government for finding solutions to perennially-troubled regional travel by agreeing to the new partnership in increasing airlift at the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw (RLB) International Airport in Basseterre.   
 At the welcome ceremony for the inaugural flight Sunday, Gardiner said “Today is a momentous occasion in aviation for the Eastern Caribbean.”
 “I especially thank the Prime Minister, Dr. Terrance Drew, and his vision of pushing forward to find solutions for reliable, more efficient regional travel, and working with the Government through Minister Henderson and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, and the efforts of CEO Tommy Thompson who has kept the fire under me insisting that St. Kitts be added to our route map,” Gardiner said.

The Chairman continued, “Today, we are delivering on that promise to and from this twin-island Federation.”
Gardiner also recognised Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, and Bridgetown’s tourism ministry for creating an avenue for InterCaribbean to contribute to airlift in the region by being the host country from which InterCaribbean Airways launched its Eastern Caribbean operations.

“Though not new to the OECS (Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States) and these Lesser Antilles, we see our launch and growth in St., Kitts and Nevis today and by extension the Eastern Caribbean as somewhat of a homecoming,” Gardiner said.
The Chairman said the airline can be considered a homegrown operation which will help in filling existing gaps. He assured InterCaribbean Airways will provide safe, reliable, reasonable, and comfortable travel options for customers.

“Indeed, we are truly a homegrown operation and ours is a refined, renewed, and collaborative expansion to help fill the existing gaps; to help fill the interconnectivity in the region, our goal is to provide safe, reliable, reasonable, and comfortable travel options for customers while actively expanding our fleet and flight schedules to even more service,” Gardiner promised.
