Customers touched ‘The Cable’s heart in 2022

MARKETING MANAGER OF ‘THE CABLE’, YARAYNI MORTON, ADMITTED BEING OVERWHELMED by the “heart-touching (public) response” to her company’s projects and promotions efforts in 2022.

“The response was very good, especially for the summer and Christmas, when a number of nationals usually return during that time. There are also those that do a number of things to their homes during that time of the year too, so the response was very good,” she said in an exclusive with www.sknnewssource.com.

Its very loyal customers have been expressing gratitude for ‘The Cable’s’ diverse promotions and projects as the company’s market shares swell. She said the full-up-and-go promotion which offered lucky customers free gas topped the list of promotions.

Its popularity she attributed to the global spike in fuel and food prices making customers eager to benefit.

“This promotion was exceptionally well received, as it came at a time when it was the third month of the year, and a lot of people were complaining that their Christmas monies were finished, and gas prices were at an all-time high in St Kitts and Nevis at the time.”

“So, with food high and gas 9extremely) high, it served as a well-needed relief. Further with last year being our first carnival since COVID, it was also our collaboration with the Carnival Committee after COVID that saw a lot of persons participating as the support was significant,” Morton explained.

Many in the twin-island Federation predictably switched allegiance to ‘The Cable’ during the Christmas season, lured especially by the ‘double-up’ of internet speed the company offered for the same old price.

‘Double-up’ helped boost Morton’s company’s market share because they experienced the value and price personally, enjoying “getting more for less”.

Without disclosing figures of the swell, Morton said internal research is indicating spikes in their customer base making her upbeat ‘The Cable’ is making “significant inroads” among  their competition.

“The rate that our customer base is going I can say that it’s not on par with the rate that many were expecting. We are getting more customers than the rate of homeownership is going, so I want to say that considering all of that, it’s clear that these persons are switchers who were elsewhere, but have not decided that they would like to have internet with us.”

“However, I will not venture to give figures without the scientific data but what I can say is that our customer base has been steadily growing, and this year, we intend to make an even greater impact,” Morton declared.

‘The Cable’ has outfitted 17 community centres with free Wi-Fi access, and according to preliminary figures, the downtown Basseterre usage of internet users is currently in five digits.

“We don’t have a report that we generate for each community centre. For some of them, access lies with a custodian who will determine how many people are utilising them weekly. However, we do get a weekly report of the Basseterre usage and it shows five digits every month and that is unique connections. Every single month it’s over five digits. So, quite a lot of people are using those access points,” Morton declared.
